The Land of Oz

Adelaide

The trip to Adelaide was the most unusual trip we have taken in Australia. We received word that Edite's cousin and niece were to be touring selected Australian cities with the Penn State women's field hockey team. One of the cities was to be Adelaide and we thought we were close enough to pay them a visit while they were here.
Adelaide is 750 km from Melbourne which takes in the neighborhood of 7 to 8 hours to drive. We left on a Friday and spent Saturday with the team, watching their game with the Aussies and then tagging along on a tour of the wine country just north of the city. It was a bit of a whirlwind visit, but, on balance, worth the investment of time to see the family again.
We intended to return to Adelaide to visit Kangaroo Island and the downtown area, but time and circumstances did not play favors for us, so we never got back. Perhaps on the next trip.
